Becoming involved in a medical malpractice claim can be a stressful and difficult event in a physician’s career. This lecture will help to demystify the process, and will provide strategies to help prevent and defend claims. To be presented by Peter Brandt and Jonathan Bobell, partners at Livingston, Barger, Brandt & Schroeder in Bloomington.

This presentation will cover preliminary results from a quality improvement project funded by Jump ARCHES that includes scientists at the U of I College of Engineering and the Jump Simulation Center. The project aims to design a utility-focused alarm system aimed at reducing the percentage of maternal morbidity and mortality resulting from postpartum hemorrhage events.
