"Menopause Hormone Therapy: the Women’s Health Initiative Effect" will review the history of menopause care and hormone therapy and share contemporary approaches for management of menopause symptoms. To be presented by Makeba Williams, MD, FACOG, MSCP. Dr. Williams is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist and is a Certified Menopause Practitioner of The Menopause Society. She is Professor and Vice Chair of Professional Development and Wellness in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where she established the Menopause Medicine program in 2023.
Dr. Williams’ clinical and academic focus is on resident education in the care and management of menopause patients, clinical decision making, and culturally responsive menopause care. She was the founding director of the University of Wisconsin Health Menopause Clinic. She has been honored with several national and local teaching awards, including the CREOG Faculty Award; the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award; the SASGOG Faculty Award, and the 2022 ACOG Mentor Award.
