"Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Obstetrics and Gynecology: How the success of modern chemistry may be hurting women and pregnancies," to be presented by Nathan Petersen, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Ob/Gyn, Director, Ob/Gyn Sub-Internship Program, UICOMP.
OBJECTIVES:
1). Increase awareness of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC’s) as environmental contaminants.
2). Identify difficulties in measuring effects of EDC’s.
3). Discuss EDC’s that may be having negative impacts on:
- In-utero fetal development
- Multi-generational epigenetic changes
- Gynecologic cancers
- Fertility
- Age of menarche
4). Discuss how this information might be incorporated into patient counseling inside and outside pregnancy
