UIC Perinatal Center Courses and Conferences

This is an advanced course to assist the nurse eligible for certification by the National Certification Corporation (NCC) to prepare and sit for the computer-based Maternal Newborn or Inpatient Obstetrics Examination. Eligibility for the certification examination is a minimum of two years clinical practice and 2000 hours (equates to 0.5FTE for 2 years).

Attend days 1& 2    April 28th & 29th 

• Normal / High risk pregnancy

• Postpartum / Newborn

For Inpatient Obstetrics  $200 

 Attend days 1,2,3    April 28th, 29th & May 6th 

• Day 3 = Advanced EFM & L&D

Space is limited and classes usually fill quickly, however a minimum of 15 registrants is required to hold this class. Approximately 2 weeks prior to the class, you will be notified if the class has reached the minimum number and you will receive additional course information and a link for the handouts. In addition, just prior to the first class, you are required to apply for the certification exam at www.nccwebsite.org. Proof of examination application must be presented at the first class.

Class registration closes when there are 24 registrants and/or 2 weeks prior to class.

Presenter:

Carol Burke APRN/CNS, MSN, RNC-OB, CEFM is a perinatal clinical nurse specialist. With over 40 years experience, Carol is a published author and frequent speaker at national and local seminars. She is active with AWHONN, March of Dimes Perinatal Advisory Committee, and editorial board for the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing and the Journal for Women’s Health. Candidates completing her course have over a 98% rate of success.

This activity has been awarded contact hours by the Ohio Nurses Association: Days 1&2=14.0 hrs.; Day 3=7.0 hrs. The Ohio Nurses Association is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (OBN-001-91). Criteria for successful completion and receipt of contact hours for this educational activity includes: 1) Learner’s signature on sign-in sheet
