Wake Up Call is a dynamic, high-energy welcome event at Illinois hosted by 100 STRONG and the Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center (BNAACC). It serves as an introduction to student life through the celebration of various cultural traditions in the Black diaspora, featuring campus traditions, student performances, and a showcase of Student Organizations.
The event highlights the five pillars of 100 STRONG: Academic Success, Identity Exploration and Development, Professional Development, Sustained Engagement, and Service Learning and Civic Engagement, offering incoming students a first look at how the program supports their growth throughout their time at Illinois.
Wake Up Call also introduces students to the broader support services available through BNAACC, including drop-in resources, scholarship opportunities, and campus resource connections, ensuring students leave with a clear sense of the community and support system ready to walk alongside them from day one.
