Dr. Soares will be sharing an overview of new Phase 3 Elective: Compassion, Resilience and Emotional Awareness Training for Healthcare Professionals.

Summary

The purpose of this lecture is to discuss the CREATE curriculum and its relevance in medical education. The presentation will include a brief overview of the three evidence-based programs that constituted the formation of the CREATE curriculum, and the latest scientific literature on resilience and well-being that is integrated into the curriculum. Participants will identify the skills to develop and promote compassion and well-being. The presentation will include some students’ reflections on the relevance of the CREATE curriculum in their medical education

  • Identify the role and impact of compassion training in medical education and healthcare.
  • Describe the skills which can be developed to promote compassion and well-being
  • Explain the 4 components of well-being and the 4 intelligences
  • Discuss how self-compassion can promote resilience and well-being

The goal of the Medical Education Grand Round Series is to promote and share current scholarship related to teaching practices, improve faculty and clinician teaching skills and provide a forum for teaching faculty to share their results from medical education research.
