The goal of the Medical Education Grand Round Series is to promote and share current scholarship related to teaching practices, improve faculty and clinician teaching skills and provide a forum for teaching faculty to share their results from medical education research.
After participation in this session, participants will be better able to:
- Define health equity, health disparities, social determinants of health, and structural racism;
- Analyze the impacts of structural racism and inequities on health and wellness of individuals and communities;
- Discuss the value of academic-community partnerships in preparing the future health workforce;
- Discuss the role of interprofessional education in preparing the future health workforce to be leaders, scholars, advocates and change agents; and,
- Apply the programmatic examples shared during the session to develop transformative health professions education to address health disparities and attain health equity.
