"Hemorrhage considerations - beyond uterotonics," presented by Ryan Beardsley, MD, Clinical Associate, Department of OB/GYN, UICOMP.
Description: Studies from the last decade about management of hemorrhaging patients suggests that there are multiple changes we can make that should improve outcomes. Specifically, I plan to address tranexamic acid, restrictive fluid administration, and improved utilization of blood products.
Learning Objectives:
• Understand evidence supporting “permissive hypotension” and how to apply it in cases of hemorrhage (whether OB or not).
• Learn indications for use of tranexamic acid and how its mechanism of action differs from uterotonics.
• Learn more about blood products and ways to utilize them to improve outcomes.
