S. Brian McIntyre, EdD, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, Clinical OB/GYN, and Clinical Family and Community Medicine, will present "The Effects of Pandemic-related Factors on Patients and Providers:  Understanding and Implementing Interpersonal Approaches"

This presentation will focus on the combined stresses of dealing with various aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic as it affects patients and providers.  The focus will be on helping providers  assess and assist themselves and others with an understanding of the pandemic’s impact on interpersonal issues that greatly affect mental and physical health.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe various aspects of pandemic-related stress and their impacts on health.
  2. Describe various types of interpersonal distress related to or exacerbated by the pandemic.
  3. Discuss ways of talking to patients demonstrating the effects of pandemic-related stress.
  4. Discuss self-care in relation to personal and professional interactions during the pandemic
