This presentation will address commonly encountered concerns providers face in caring for patients with a history of breast cancer in the general clinic setting. Particular focus will be on imaging in the post-cancer setting, management of symptoms post-breast cancer such as vaginal dryness, and complications of treatment.
Susan N. Kok, who is a North American Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner, completed her internal medicine training at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. She went on to complete a one-year fellowship in Women’s Health at Mayo Clinic Rochester which included training in breast health and breast cancer. Dr. Kok is now a senior associate consultant in the General Internal Medicine Department at Mayo Clinic Rochester, and she spends the bulk of her clinical time in the Diagnostic Breast Clinic and Menopause and Women’s Sexual Health Clinic.
Objectives:
1. Describe appropriate breast cancer screening guidelines for patients with a history of breast cancer
2. Detail principles of treating genitourinary syndrome of menopause in the post-breast cancer setting
3. List non-hormonal options for treating vasomotor symptoms in the post-breast cancer setting
4. Identify symptoms concerning for Breast Implant Associated - Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL)
