“Insights into the Role of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE1) in Alzheimer’s Disease”
Description: The beta‐secretase BACE1 makes the toxic protein beta‐amyloid (Abeta) that comprises amyloid plaques, a hallmark lesion in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brain. Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE1) is known for its role in blood pressure control, but it has been recently genetically linked to AD. This seminar will explore the relationships of these two enzymes to this devastating neurodegenerative disorder.
