IMPROVE BIRTH OUTCOMES WITH EVIDENCE BASED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT

In this course, we will:

• Understand why movement is beneficial
• Describe variations in pelvic shape and the subsequent effects
• on fetal positioning
• Compare changes in space of the pelvic openings based on
• femur rotation, sacral/iliac nutation/counternutation, and asymmetry
• Discuss the role of pelvic variations on fetal positioning and labor
• scenarios
• Reframe the idea of “optimal fetal positioning”
• Discuss how pelvic floor lengthening works in conjunction with movement to support
• vaginal birth
• Visualize how different positions for the birthing person change available space for the
• baby based on their position/presentation
• Explore positions for encouraging descent and rotation at different fetal stations
