Lunch and Learn: Perinatal Nursing in the Courtroom: The Role of the Expert Witness

Purpose:  

This educational activity aims to inform those who are interested in the expert witness process and what role they play in the courtroom. 

Objectives: 

• Explain how perinatal nurse expert witnesses analyze medical records, standards of care, and clinical outcomes to form clear, defensible opinions in legal cases. 
• Identify concrete steps perinatal nurses can take over the next year to position themselves for expert witness work, including building a CV, documenting expertise, and networking with legal contacts.
