This workshop is taught by AWHONN-approved Instructor Trainers. The workshop prepares participants to teach the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course. Content includes principles and application of adult learning theory as applicable for teaching the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course, such as integrating principles of adult learning into the didactic and skills course components, incorporating appropriate teaching methods and strategies during the lecture, and demonstrating knowledge of the assigned components of the course during the micro-teach. Information about the administrative and operational aspects of FHM is presented.This course is the initial step for individuals who wish to become approved AWHONN FHM Program Instructors.
Successful completion of online prerequisite education is required prior to attending the one-day in-person portion of the course. Prerequisite online learning is approximately two hours. In-person workshop is four hours long
Nursing contact hours will be awarded after the successful completion of a microteach. Nursing contact hours will be awarded after the online evaluation is completed and is required to receive nursing contact hours for the course.
