AbstractWe studied one-sided blackholes and bulk reconstructions in the double scaled SYK (DSSYK) model. We proposed diagrammatic rules for one-sided chord diagrams leading to a Hamiltonian which reduces to the Morse potential in the tripe scaling limit (which agrees with similar results proposed earlier using different approaches). Building on this, we defined Hilbert spaces and boundary algebras (in the presence of matter chords) for these one-sided blackholes. We studied the bulk reconstruction and proved that the boundary algebra is not enough to reconstruct arbitrary bulk operators despite that there is only a single boundary in this case, which is different from the two-boundary case considered by Henry Lin where arbitrary bulk operators can be retrieved from the boundary. We proposed that this boundary algebra is still type II_1 and gave supporting arguments. Another result we proved is that once we include the chord-number operator as an independent generator of the boundary algebra, then bulk reconstruction becomes possible no matter how many types of matter chords we have, which is quite unexpected. Along with our main results, we also obtained a few byproducts such as a new strategy to diagonalize chord Hamiltonians in the presence of matter chords and a proposal of defining chord diagrams on disks with topological defects. We expect this work to provide more understanding about bulk reconstruction in single sided blackholes and we are interested to see if there are analogs of our results in JT gravity.
